About Us

Our mission

We want to help make life just a little easier for mums, even if it's just to save five minutes of cleaning up so she can get a little bit more sleep, a quick cuppa or some extra play time with her little one. Motherhood is hard and overwhelming enough as it is, so with our products we hope to lighten both the laundry load and the mental load of as many mums as we can!

How Blossom Baby arose

I found the early years of parenting really tough - I had two kids under two, both in nappies, and my newborn had a lovely combination of reflux, tongue tie and cows milk protein intolerance. This resulted in so much crying (both of us!) and years of sleep deprivation, and she didn't consistently sleeping through the night until she was 5. It was hard going, and so my heart goes out to any mama out there who is struggling as I have been there.

I knew I wanted to start another business after I sold my first business Real Good Fundraising. During a period of not-so-successful night toilet training, I started thinking about all the accidents, cleaning and overwhelm that comes with having kids and how all the products I had used to help over the years didn't *quite* hit the mark. And with a bunch of brainstorming, research and trial and error, Blossom Baby was born!

A little bit about me

I am a mother of two gorgeous, cheeky and chaos-causing kids - an 8 year old boy and 6 year old girl - and am married to my lovely husband Craig. We live in the beautiful town of Cromwell, Central Otago, where we love to get out and explore our lake and mountains. I love running a business and am so excited that after 2 years of hard work, Covid curve balls, and perseverance, to finally be bringing Blossom Baby to life.

    Our values

    We love our customers

Our number on priority is having happy customers. Everything we do is to help mums out - here is some ways we do this:

    • We only sell quality products, that we know will really help mums - no empty promises or unnecessary items, and products that will last. It has taken two years of testing different products from different suppliers to create our products to a standard we are happy with.
    • We have a 30 day "Helpful or Your Money Back" guarantee. If our products don't help our customers, we will do whatever we can to work it out, but if we can't, we will replace, refund or provide a store credit.
    • We are always happy to answer any questions and hear any feedback, positive or negative - just get in touch!

    We want to "Give Back"

To us, running a business is not just about earning an income, its also about what we can do for others and for our environment:

    • We have joined the 1% Pledge, which means that even from day one we are committed to donating a minimum of 1% of all sales to charity.
    • Our main "Giving Back" initiative is our partnership with the Eden Reforestation Project, where one tree is planted for every product sold - both helping our environment and reducing poverty. You can read more about this here.
    • We are plastic free! All of our product packaging and courier items are made from paper or cardboard, meaning you can recycle or compost everything you receive from us. This comes at an extra cost to us, but we feel it is so important to reduce our contribution to land fill.

    Our manufacturing

Finding the right manufacturer was a huge and at times rather frustrating process, but now we have two great factories in China making our products. While we explored making our products in New Zealand and other countries closer to home, unfortunately the reality was the products could not be affordable and the raw fabrics would be coming from China anyway. We also have big plans to expand Blossom Baby into other countries, so require large manufacturing capabilities.

If you have any questions at all, please pop us an email, we'd be happy to chat - hello@blossomb.co.nz.

    Best wishes, Sid xx
